West Sound Radio bring Chamber numbers to 100

WEST Sound Radio has became the 100th business to join the Wigtownshire Chamber of Commerce.

The station which first went on air in 1981, broadcasts across south-west Scotland and is part of the Bauer Radio Group.

West Sound is the latest in a string of businesses which have joined the Chamber in recent weeks including Stranraer-based circuit board manufacturer, Castle Technologies Limited, Glenwhan Gardens, the Torrs Warren Country House Hotel in Stoneykirk, The Creebridge House Hotel in Newton Stewart, Craig Wilson Auction Mart, Newton Stewart and the Glenluce Antiques Centre.

Other new member businesses include Stranraer-based Caledonia Matting International, Quick Return Cleaners, 1 Stop Photography and the Newton Stewart-based Galloway and Dumfries Public Auction Rooms.

Chamber President, Peter Jeal said that he was delighted that the area’s local radio station had become the latest member to join the Chamber. Earlier this year, Stranraer Chamber of Commerce merged with the Wigtownshire Chamber to create a single business organisation representing the whole area.

“Our growing membership and presence is an indication that the Chamber is fast gaining a solid reputation for assisting its members on a range of specific issues and speaking up for businesses in the area at both local and national level.

“We are also committed to helping drive much-needed economic growth both through our own specific projects and in partnership with others as well as ensuring that Wigtownshire businesses have a real say on issues affecting them.

West Sound Station Director, Brenda Ritchie commented: We are delighted to be the 100th business to join Wigtownshire Chamber of Commerce and look forward to many networking opportunities that this will bring. We have been members of the Ayrshire Chamber of Commerce now for many years and have enjoyed an excellent relationship with them. We are excited about building our relationship with the Wigtownshire Chamber of Commerce.

West Sound broadcasts on 103FM in Wigtownshire, 97FM in Dumfries and 96.5FM in Kirkcudbrightshire.
