Warning issued over spate of van thefts

Police in Wigtownshire have issued a warning to van owners to be extra vigilant following a spate of thefts.

A van parked on Station Road, Wigtown was broken into between 5pm on Monday 8am on Tuesday. resulting in the theft of a green drill pack and some measuring tape. And on Monday night between 11.15pm and 4.30am, A Toyota Hilux pick up was broken into near Braehead. A rotating laser, a nail gun and extendable ladders were taken.

Crime reduction officer Lynne Steel said: “I would ask local residents to be as vigilant as possible and if you see anything unusual or someone suspicious, to contact police by calling 101 or in an emergency, 999. Try and note as much detail of the person or vehicle as possible such as a description of clothes, hair or distinctive features. In the case of a vehicle note registration, colour, make or model and how many occupants and direction of travel.”
