HAVE you dreamt of being in a band? Are you a singer, guitarist, drummer, fiddle player, bagpipe player, accordion player, or in fact play any kind of musical instrument?
After a successful series of events over the summer, Galloway Children’s Festivals group are looking for young people up to the age of 18 who would be interested in forming bands.
Tony Bonning, the group’s Director, said: “During the summer we worked with many fine young musicians, all working independent of each other. It occurred to us that there must be many young people out there practising away at home and never really meeting with other like-minded musicians. We would like to give them the opportunity to get together and see what we can create. We have already spoken to a few who are keen to be involved.”
“What we intend to do is to have an initial meeting with the young musicians, their parents and ourselves in early September and set out the basic project. It may be that we have a number of projects across the region due to the problems of travel. Our target is set up a number of new young bands across Galloway; this includes duos, trios and the like. We will also provide technical support from experienced musicians and teachers, including stage craft.”
