This week’s Newton Stewart Walking Festival has been basking in glorious summer weather.
The more settled conditions and warmer temperatures that the area has been enjoying over the past few days has meant that hundreds of walkers from both near and far have been enjoying exploring Galloway’s hills, coast and rolling countryside.
Joan Mitchell, chair of the group of volunteers who organise the event said: “Despite some blustery conditions on the higher hills, the weather has really helped make this year’s festival very successful.
“The region has been looking its best for our visitors.”
WalkFest runs until Thursday 12th May.
Full details can be found on the festival website at www.newtonstewartwalkfest.com or by calling 01671 404500.
There will be a full report on the 14th Newton Stewart Walking Festival in next week’s Galloway Gazette.
