Unpaid work order for offender

A Port William man who admitted causing £50 worth of damage to a police van after falling out with his partner was ordered to complete a community pay back order of 200 hours this week.

Robert Turner, 25, of Seaview Terrace, was also put under supervision for two years by Sheriff Carmichael at the court in Stranraer on Tuesday. The accused pled guity to shouting and swearing at Amanda Lockhart at their home on May 10, resisting arrest and damaging a light casing in the police van taking him to Stranraer Police Station. He also admitted a further two offences on June 8. Fiscal Kirsty McGowan said that, after the second incident, Turner told police: “Sorry for doing it, but I canny mind doing it.” Agent Ian Milligan said the accused and his partner were still in a long-term supportive relationship.
