Two people were taken to hospital following a collision in South Ayrshire this morning (Friday 10 April).
Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free one of the casualties involved in the incident, which took place on the A77 at Maybole shortly before 8:20am.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) crews from Maybole and Ayr were mobilised by Operations Control in response to a call from the ambulance service and firefighters reached the scene around seven minutes later.
A woman had been removed to hospital by ambulance prior to the arrival of the SFRS crews, while a second was being attended to by paramedics inside her vehicle.
Watch Manager James Davidson, the incident commander said: “We were operating alongside the paramedics and together established a plan to safely release the casualty.
“Our team worked with cutting equipment to free her. She was then moved to an ambulance and taken to Ayr Hospital.”
