Portpatrick-based Land Agent, Derek Bathgate, who works for the Castle Douglas firm of John A Neil Rural recently came out on top in professional exams taken by Land Agents from all over Scotland.
The Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV) exams test the professional knowledge and expertise of candidates working in agricultural valuation and land agency.
Each year the “Presidents Cup” is awarded by the Scottish Agricultural Arbiters and Valuers Association (SAAVA) to the candidate from Scotland who achieves the highest mark in the CAAV exam.
Derek Bathgate is pictured with the “Presidents Cup” at Low Auchenree Farm, just outside Portpatrick, where he lives with his family.
Derek specialises in advising farmers, tenants and landowners on farm business management issues, tenancy matters and compensation negotiations when land is affected by utility and infrastructure projects. Derek also advises on renewable energy projects.
