The face of local children’s charity Cash for Kids, Westsound’s Breakfast Show presenter Tommy Jardine, has been named as the charity’s first Ambassador in Dumfries and Galloway.
The special announcement coincides with his decision to step down as the charity’s day to day manager in the region and comes shortly after his fundraising efforts broke that £1m barrier.
This incredible figure has resulted in an average of 20,000 local children being helped every year, including many projects across the region that support vulnerable and disadvantaged children.
Lord McConnell, Chair of the charity’s Board of Trustees, said: “Tommy Jardine has inspired local people in Dumfries and Galloway to incredible levels of generosity.
“His smiling face and positive outlook have made him into a local legend.
“We will miss his day to day involvement but the trustees want Tommy to be our Ambassador and we are grateful he has said yes.”
Tommy added: “I’m really delighted to be the very first Cash For Kids Ambassador for South West Scotland and looking forward to supporting the charity for many years to come.”
Tommy hand over the day to day running of the business to a new charity manager to be appointed soon and joins other ambassadors like Ant and Dec in North East England.
