TEAM Galloway enjoyed a successful fundraising evening on Friday ahead of their challenge to drive through Europe as part of the Help for Heroes 4X4 European Rally in June.
The team - driver Tom Hudson who lives near Kirkcudbright, co-driver Malcolm Middleton of Baldoon and navigator James McGill from Mochrum - will set off behind the wheel of their Land Rover to raise cash for the forces’ charity and kind-hearted souls who truned out to join in the fun in Twynholm Village Hall on Friday helped raise over £500.
The team will represent Galloway against more than 40 other teams in the cross-European challenge, which will see them visit various war sites.
Tom, who served in Afghanistan, was keen to fundraise for the cause and with the help of his two teammates, the lads have managed to climb near the top of the fundraising table for the rally.
Last year’s rally raised £121,704.49 and so far the lads have raised over £3,500 with help from generous sponsorship by local businesses and individuals.
Huge thanks go to The Geese for providing the music on Friday, to Thistle ‘B’ Scrumptious of Castle Douglas and Auchenlarie Holiday Park for their generous raffle donations and to everyone who turned out.
Help support this local team who are undertaking a gruelling challenge across 11 countries - which will see them camping and fending for themselves the whole way. Like the members of our armed forces, they’re doing this so we don’t have to - can you spare a few quid to spur them on?
