Donna Coulter, from Galloway Community Hospital in Stranraer, has scooped a top award at the Scottish Health Awards 2013 in recognition of her invaluable contribution to Scottish healthcare.

Donna, a physiotherapy support worker, was awarded the Support Worker Award thanks to her inspiring attitude and commitment to the local community.

Judges said Donna, who also works for a community nursing team and with the Marie Curie service, consistently goes beyond her duty of care. She is dedicated to the wellbeing of her patients and motivates her colleagues to face challenges head on.

NHS Dumfries and Galloway chief executive Jeff Ace said: “We are fortunate to have many talented and committed staff in the workforce of NHS Dumfries amd Galloway. The Scottish Health Awards by their nature highlight only a tiny number of these individuals and we are particularly pleased and proud to note Donna’s outstanding achievement.”

Every year, the Scottish Health Awards recognise and reward the dedicated NHS staff, support workers, volunteers and specialist teams who go the extra mile to provide outstanding patient care.
