Stranraer crash girl dies in hospital

AN 18-year old Stranraer girl badly injured in a crash with two lorries near Girvan has died in hospital.

Eva Douglas, of Princes Street in the town, gave up her week-long fight at Glasgow's Southern General Hospital following the crash, which closed the road between Stranraer and Girvan for over seven hours last Tuesday.

Miss Douglas was travelling on the A77 with two female 19-year old passengers when the collision happened at 8.15am near Ardwell Farm, Girvan.

Her red Fiat Punto smashed head-on into one of the lorries and she and her passengers were required to be cut free from the wreckage.

Friends of Miss Douglas have this week been leaving messages of condolence on her social website, Bebo.

One says: "I cant believed its actually happening. I was praying you would pull through."

And another: "Eva, u will be sadly missed by everybody but you will never be forgotten."
