SNP in poll position

SNP candidate for Galloway and West Dumfries Dr Aileen McLeod has welcomed an analysis of the Mori-Ipsos poll which has sensationally put the SNP ahead of Labour and shows that the SNP could take Galloway and West Dumfries from the Tories.

Dr McLeod commented: “It would be great if this was the result in Galloway and West Dumfries come May but we are not complacent and know we have to work hard to get the SNP’s positive message across to people in this constituency

“Last week’s poll shows there is all to play for in Scotland’s election this May – with the SNP moving ahead of Labour and achieving a poll rating four points higher than the election results of 2007.

“The Lib-Dems in particular have been found out, as these figures show. Their hypocrisy and political duplicity has been exposed over recent weeks and months.

“The real contest in Galloway and West Dumfries is between the SNP and the Tories. I will be working harder than ever to show people that a vote for the SNP in the May election is a vote for a positive future for this area. The Tories have nothing to offer Scotland, and nothing left to offer the people in this constituency.

“The SNP has a strong track record of meeting people’s concerns and being on the side of people in Galloway and West Dumfries. Over the last four years the SNP has frozen the council tax saving households an average of £322, restored free higher education, reduced prescription charges and invested in jobs and recovery. We continue to oppose rising fuel prices with our demand for a fuel stabiliser and the scrapping of the Tories duty rise.

As we head towards Scotland’s election, the SNP will continue to govern for Scotland, to build Scotland’s economy, protect our public services, and to stand on our record of delivery and vision for Scotland’s future”.
