A second motorcyclist within a week has died as a result of a crash on Galloway’s roads.

Police Scotland named the man who was killed in a road crash on the A77 road between Stranraer and Portpatrick on Thursday, October 6, as 64-year-old James Norman Harvey from Moor Park in Prestwick. Mr Harvey was riding a BMW motorcycle when it was in collision with a Subaru motor car being driven by a 70-year-old man from Stratford upon Avon. Mr Harvey was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Subaru and his female passenger received minor seatbelt injuries as a result.

The Procurator Fiscal has been informed.

The family of Jim Harvey said today: “We cannot begin to describe the sense of loss we feel following Jim’s death. At the age of 64, Jim was still living every day to the fullest. His love and absolute passion for motorbikes really expressed his personality and outlook on life. He loved the freedom and enjoyed the thrill of the open road. While the family are still coming to terms with the sense that Jim was taken from us prematurely, we take some comfort in knowing that Jim died doing what he loved.”
