The next Mill Sessions is on July 21 with the acclaimed Matt Seattle Band winging in with their sonic carpet to transport the audience from the Eildons to Elfland.
“These Reivers will not lift your cattle – they will lift your heart and give it back to you … reprogrammed,” as one reviewer put it.
And in support is the young and highly talented Wigtownshire singer/songwriter Rosie Lindsay.
The Borders piping tradition is at the radiant core of their intense music. Matt Seattle is a major figure in the resurgence of this tradition, while Frazer Watson and Lewis Powell-Reid, both musicians immersed in eastern European folk styles, create a new soundscape for Borders music, performing on frame drums, darabouka, accordion and bouzouki, as Donald Knox provides the harmonic rooting for the group on guitar.
The session starts at 7.30pm in the Faed Gallery, Mill on The Fleet, Gatehouse of Fleet. Tickets are £8 bookable through the Mill (01557 814099) or online at www.millonthefleet.co.uk or on the door.
