TS John Paul Jones recently welcomed the Captain of the Sea Cadet Corps on a visit to their unit in Kirkcudbright.
Captain of the Sea Cadet Corps, and also a serving Royal Naval Officer, Captain Mark Windsor RN visited the unit on Thursday, November 3. With nearly 400 units in the UK, the cadets at the Kirkcudbright unit felt honoured to be visited by the captain.
The captain was shown around the unit by Commanding Officer Lt (SCC) Tom Plummer RNR where unit instructors demonstrated some of the subjects on offer.The captain finished the evening by presenting the unit with a pennant in recognition of their achievements this year.
A pennant is presented to a Sea Cadets unit based on its performance throughout the year and is judged on the training and quality of the unit.
Captain Mark Windsor RN took over the top position in the Sea Cadets in July 2009.
