The 2012-2013 concert season is almost upon us and Newton Stewart and District Music Club is looking forward to a varied programme of five concerts.

The highlight of the new season will be a return of Scottish Opera to The Cinema with a performance of “La Traviata” in November.

The season opens at The Cinema on October 14 with the group Daniel’s Beard, who will play works by Vaughan Williams, Schreker, and Dohnanyi.

The sextet is named from a painting of the bearded theatre designer Daniel Cottier which hangs in the Cottier Theatre in Glasgow.

The season will conclude in March with the Scottish Chamber Choir at Penninghame St John’s Church.
