One of Scotland’s foremost poets and songwriters, Angus MacNeacail, will appear in Dumfries on September 8 as part of the forthcoming Rediscover Literacies weekend organised by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Angus will appear at the Crichton Campus at an event jointly hosted by the community group Gaidhlig Dumgal. Tthere will be chance to try your own hand at creative writing under Angus’s tuition or learn some Gaelic. Then, in the afternoon, Angus will speak about his work.
Artist Sheila Mullen will follow Angus, telling us how Scottish literature, especially Angus’s poetry, has inspired her work.
For details of costs and how to book a place on the day, contact Andrew Wilson, Gaelic development worker, on 07921038630 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Angus will also appear later that evening at an open mike event at the Coach & Horses, on the Whitesands, Dumfries, where folk can read a poem, sing, tell a story, preferably in Gaelic (though it’s not compulsory).
