R&D workforce made redundant

ADMINISTRATORS for R&D Construction, which went under this week, have made the entire workforce redundant on Friday.

Adminstrators met with the staff at meetings in Dumfries and Stranraer at 12 noon to tell them the news.

Joint administrator Andrew Davison said: “Constructive discussions have taken place with the company’s key customer, but it has become clear there are a number of significant issues to be addressed before a transfer of contract can be pursued.

“This process is likely to take weeks rather than days, and, mindful of the uncertainty already facing staff, we believe it is both untenable and unfair to keep them in what would essentially be a limbo situation. All those leaving today do so with our utmost sympathies.”
