The Hughes family from Kirkinner had a successful day at an agility show near Strathaven, winning their respective classes with poodles Poppy, Marley and Daisy, on Sunday.

Lochlan Hughes, 15, won one class and came third in another at the Avon Winter Agility Show with his white rescue poodle Daisy. The pair have qualified for Crufts and will be representing Scotland in the young agility handlers competition. Other members of the Stewartry Agility Runners (STARS) also had success at the event.

Karen Loy from Kirkcudbright achieved a 6th in an open class with her young working cocker spaniel, Alfie. Melissa Macrae from Lochfoot won a third place in an open class with Jack Russell terrier, Lotus Lottie, which was excellent preparation for her Crufts classes. Diana Lord from Beeswing gained a second and a fifth with two of her rescue border collies.

If you think you might like to try agility with your dog, the STARS are holding a taster evening on Wednesday 26th March at Barstobrick Indoor Arena, Ringford. Contact Diana Lord by email dianalord@btinternet.com - booking is essential.
