Ms Lees’ appointment will be for a short period of time while the council’s chief executive Gavin Stevenson recovers from illness and is able to return to his post.
Ms Lees is in charge of the full range of Mr Stevenson’s duties as interim chief executive, having taken up the position on Monday.
This will include acting as returning officer for the forthcoming Scottish Parliament elections, as Dumfries and Galloway goes to the polls on Thursday, May 6.
Elected Members, close colleagues and the wider staff of the council all wish Mr Stevenson well and hope for a full and speedy recovery.
