Charity organisation The Wigtown Players are celebrating 70 years this year.
Wigtown Players started in 1945 with the residue of the funds raised to support returning servicemen after World War 2.
The players for provided an entertainment party up until the last concert in 1996.
Fundraising is now carried out by holding an annual sale and various other events.
The players are also very well supported by local donations.
At the present day the Wigtown Players provide a summer outing in June, an ecumenical church service and tea in October and a Christmasparty for all senior citizens of the parish, totalling at present 292.
Any person over 65 who is not on the players lists should contact May McColm on 01988 403201.
