Pet pooch plucked from rocks by RNLI

RNLI volunteer crew members from Portpatrick were called out last Wednesday to rescue a dog that had become stranded on rocks at Port Logan.

When the call came in, the RNLB John Buchanan Barr left Portpatrick harbour at 4.15 pm and arrived on scene at 4.40 pm. On arrival they found that a dog had jumped off the pier and was stranded on the rocks below.

The crew then deployed a small rib (rigid inflatable boat) craft, which is carried on the Tamar Class lifeboat, to enable them to negotiate the shallow water near to the rocks and rescue the dog.

The animal was then taken on shore where it was safely reunited with its worried owner.

The crew then returned aboard the RNLB John Buchanan Barr and arrived back at Portpatrick harbour at 5.30pm to prepare for any further call-outs.
