THE Galloway Pageant parade and afternoon fun are on the move - for this year at least.
The annual day which signals the culmination of a week-long schedule of events for locals and visitors will this year take place at Douglas Park instead of the usual Minnigaff Playing Fields.
Re-seeding work being carried out on the usual field has rendered it out of bounds by football and community groups, meaning alternative locations have had to be found.
Douglas Park, behind Ghyll Crescent and Douglas Terrace, has been offered as the most suitable option for pageant proceedings.
The move means the parade will also start at a new spot - for many years, the decorated lorries have met at Ewart Drive to be judged before beginning their procession through the town.
This year, they will gather in Minnigaff at Murray Place before being judged and making their way from there towards Creebridge, Victoria Street, Queen Street, Station Road, Corvisel Road and finally gathering at Dashwood Square. Following the crowning of the Queen of Galloway, they will make their way back through the town and along King Street towards Douglas Park where there will be an afternoon of activities and events.
