THERE was good news this week from wildlife ranger Elizabeth Tindall who confirmed that the ospreys have returned to their secret nest somewhere in the Machars for the summer.
Elizabeth said the male, EP, and the female H/D had both made it back to breed from wintering in Africa.
She said: “EP has been on and off the nest since he turned up on the 25th bringing in sticks and starting to dig out the egg hollow. H/D has arrived today (Sunday 27th) from the looks of it and was sitting there happily eating a fish when I came in see what was happening. She has enlarged egg hollow and moved some twigs around to settle in
“Great news and a very early arrival, for once I was not even worrying before they got here!”
