Owners of the three gardens open at Damnaglaur with Scotland’s Garden Scheme were delighted with the number of people who visited them on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon last week.

People came from far and near to view the gardens and the work at Ardoch was evident to most people, especially those who had seen the garden in the 1990s.Damnaglaur House with its changes in planting since its last opening in 2007 was admired, whilst the refreshments on offer at The Homestead were probably appreciated the most.

The refreshments brought a huge boost to the takings of the day, 40% of which will go to the local church, while donations made by the Wigtownshire Ramblers after their (wet) Saturday walk and by the many people who bought plants will go Stranraer’s branch of the British Red Cross.
