IN the final week of Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary before it is amalgamated into the Police Service of Scotland, five officers from our region have been running in relay in 10-mile blocks from Inverness to Dumfries, due to finish today (Friday).
Insp Stuart Davidson, Sgt Iain McKie, PC Andy Stevenson, PC Adam Watret and PC Iain Wishart have stopped off at the headquarters of each of the eight existing police forces on the way and were on the road 24 hours a day.
The route was Inverness–Aberdeen–Dundee–Glenrothes–Edinburgh–Scottish Police College–Stirling–Glasgow–Dumfries and this tiring challenge is all to raise cash for four very worthwhile charities - Children in Need; Cash For Kids; COPS (Care of Police Survivors) and Auchterarder Police Convalescence and Treatment Centre. So far they have raised just over £3000.
