On Wednesday, April 26, Craig Wilson Ltd, Livestock Auction Mart, Newton Stewart had forward 546 sheep compromising 36 new season lambs, 425 prime hoggs, 85 cast ewes and tups.
Prime lambs sold to a top of 215p/kg for a pen of 40kg Suffolks from A. Wallace and Co, Claycrop, Kirkinner with the overall average being 197.3p/kg.
Hoggets met a similar trade to all other centres this week.
They sold to a top price of 190.9p/kg for a pen of 44kg Blackface Hoggets from A. and J. Baillie, Challochglass, Kirkcowan, with the overall sale being 166.2p/kg (-3.8p on the week).
