Two charities in Newton Stewart are among 1,000 around the UK to benefit from Yorkshire Building Society members’ small change.

The Society’s Charitable Foundation has donated a total of £100,000 to charities and good causes nominated by people during its Small Change Big Difference campaign.

Galloway Mountain Rescue Team and Minnigaff Community Nursery were among those to be given a £100 donation after being nominated at the Society’s local agency in Newton Stewart.

The Charitable Foundation is funded through the Small Change Big Difference® scheme where members donate the pennies from the annual interest on their accounts to help charities and good causes.

Gavin Marr, proprietor of Marr Financial Services Ltd, Financial Advisers & Mortgage Consultants and of the Yorkshire Building Society’s agency in Newton Stewart, said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came into the agency to nominate a charity for a donation during our Small Change Big Difference campaign.
