Dumfries and Galloway MP Russell Brown is seeking a meeting with Scotland Transerv to push for a permanent solution for the landslip-prone A77.
Mr Brown said:
“I have contacted Scotland Transerv to arrange a meeting as I have not felt enough action has been taken by the Scottish Government to deliver a permanent fix to the major problems occurring on the A77. I know that this is a major concern for many of my constituents in Wigtownshire so I’m hoping the meeting can take place as soon as possible.
“When I was eventually contacted by the Scottish Government after I raised the issue of landslips on the A77 they informed me that Scotland Transerv are implementing temporary measures at the problem prone areas of the road.
“However I want to make it clear to the company that what the A77 needs and what people in Wigtownshire want is a permanent solution for the road to make sure delays and diversions do not become the norm. If this was occurring on a trunk road in the central belt then the Scottish Government would be quick to take action to resolve the issue. Why should people in Wigtownshire expect anything different.”
