A STRANGE theft from a Machars farm has left its owner scratching his head in bewilderment.
Carsegowan Farm, near Wigtown, was home to Second World War ammunition stores, and evidence of the farm’s history can be seen in various places.
But owner William Lindsay can’t understand who would want to have stolen this particular relic – a wooden door.
A bemused William told the Gazette: “We were clearing one of the old sheds about a month ago for a party we were hosting and it was only when we approached the building we noticed something missing. It’s been lifted off its hinges.
“It was just wooden with some writing on it identifying it as military. I wouldn’t have even thought it would make good scrap wood.”
Whoever took the door must have been on the site previously to have seen it, and must have used a van or trailer to remove it.
