A former baptist minister appeared in court in Stranraer on Tuesday to admit child abuse.
Seventy-year-old David McFeeters, of Billericay, Essex, pled guilty to sexually assaulting a young girl on the Isle of Benbecula between August 2003 and August 2006. McFeeters pled not guilty to sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl at two address in Stranraer and this was accepted by the Crown. Representing the accused, solicitor Mr McCarra said the former baptist minister and driving instructor was well aware he was pleading guilty to a very serious offence. The lawyer told the court that matters were brought to the attention of the police after McFeeters wife died in 2011.
Sheriff Kenneth Robb deferred sentence on the accused until August 27 to allow for background reports to be compiled. McFeeters was kept in custody and placed on the sex offenders register until that date.
