A 38-YEAR-OLD man has appeared in court on a charge of abducting a woman in Kirkcudbright and detaining her against her will.
Gareth Day, whose address was given as Gladstone Place, Kirkcudbright, but who was said to have alternative accommodation in Pontypool, pleaded not guilty at Dumfries Sheriff Court to having assaulting Lynn Parry at Gladstone Place at the weekend.
He is alleged to have struggled with her, pushed her onto a couch, held her down, caused her to fall onto the ground, abducted her, and locked a door of the house to prevent her from leaving.
He also denied behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and repeatedly shouted and adopted an aggressive attitude towards the woman, threw items around and threw a laptop against a wall causing damage to it.
Trial was set for April at Kirkcudbright.
