Man arrested following vandalism in Castle Douglas

Police in Castle Douglas are appealing for information following a large number of high value vandalisms which occurred in the King Street and Cotton Street areas on Friday night.

A man not local to the area was quickly traced nearby and arrested during the early hours of Saturday morning and will be kept in custody until his court appearance on Monday morning.

Police advised residents in the area that they are aware of most of the damage caused to windows and vehicles but would appeal for any further information or further damage that occurred during the early hours of this morning, between 1am and 4am.

A police spokesperson said: “This is a one-off mindless act and we ask for patience whilst we continue to investigate the circumstances of this incident. Please contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers if you have further information regarding this.”
