Over recent months significant work has taken place at Park School.
The exterior of the building has been re-clad and re-roofed. Corridors have been painted and new flooring laid. The school is now moving forward with a programme of internal decoration. One of the first classes to benefit has been the nursery class. The school wrote to local businesses asking them if they would be prepared to help with the cost of flooring for the nursery ‘sunshine room’.
The nursery was delighted to receive a hefty donation of £1000 from the Hong Kong City Restaurant. Children were invited to the restaurant to collect the cheque and were treated to a buffet including personalised cakes.
Other local businesses, including J & J Runcie, Mirrey’s Garage, Time Out, Rankin & Aitken and North West Castle added to the already large pot. As well as replacing the nursery carpet, there were sufficient funds to extend the wet/messy area with anti-slip flooring. Kitchen doors, donated by Howden Joinery, were fitted by local joiner Gary Downie.
Children, parents and staff alike have been overwhelmed by the support and generosity of local businesses.
