A charming tale about a Belted Galloway bull has just been published by Wigtownshire company Curly Tale Books.
Audiences at the Wigtown Book Festival were given a sneak preview of Big Bill the Beltie Bull but the simple story has now been produced in time for Christmas.
The little book is the second to be written and illustrated by Shalla Gray, who also finds time to run the village shop and post office in Kirkcowan.
Her new book tells the story of a gentle bull whose quiet life is disturbed when the farmer takes him off to the local agricultural show. Children can follow his journey through the beautiful watercolour illustrations that feature the local landscape to a showground that will be familiar to many in Wigtownshire.
Fans of Shalla’s first book, Charlotte’s Woolly Yarn published by GC Books, will find the same charming rhyme and delightful pictures that make it ideal for the pre and early school age group.
Big Bill the Beltie Bull is available at local bookshops, online retailers and the Curly Tale Books website.
Shalla will be joining author Jayne Baldwin and writer and illustrator Pauline James Paterson at The Box of Frogs Bookshop in Wigtown this Saturday, December 14, for a joint signing event from 10.30am to 1pm.
