The Lidl store on Stoneykirk Road in Stranraer will close next Saturday (July 16) for eight weeks to allow works to be completed on a refit.

The works are scheduled to last for two months and the new look store will re-open on Thursday, September 8, at 8am.

The refurbishment of the store will include a new bespoke bakery, external trolley bay, energy efficient LED lighting, both internally and externally and newly paved car park. There will also be improved welfare facilities for the staff.

Gordon Rafferty, Head of Property for Lidl Scotland said: “We constantly review our store portfolio to ensure stores are up to date with our current specification. We also look at areas of stores, regardless of age, to ensure that the customer always has a positive shopping experience.”

Lidl has announced it is investing over one million pounds on the store.

The current store in Stranraer was opened on 8th December 2005 and this replaced the old store which first opened it’s doors on 26th November 1998. The store currently employs 16 full time staff.
