Whithorn Evergreens ended a most successful season on Thursday, November 15, with a fundraising prize bingo which raised £728 towards next year’s floral displays.
The committee has been overwhelmed this year with the encouraging comments of both residents and visitors to the town, and would like to thank all those who have supported us financially.
We know that our work is greatly appreciated and we especially would like to thank all the volunteers who between them have spent more than 650 hours working in the town. They planted well over 3000 snowdrops in February, 650 begonias in May and tended the flower beds at the Angel, the fire station, the four beds in Castle Hill Park and at the raised beds next to the park, where we have put the beautiful model churches which were kindly donated by the family of the late Joey Heron, and which are currently being restored.
Now we are looking forward to a well-earned rest to build up our reserves for the next season. Anyone interested in joining the group can contact any committee member.
