Plans are in motion to move Kirkcudbright Post office from its current location and into Thomsons Newsagents around the corner.
The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation.
Should the move go ahead, the branch would open from 5am to 7pm Monday to Sunday - 52 hours more than are currently offered, say the Post Office. There will be three serving positions with a mixture of two screened positions and a Post Office serving point for use at the retail counter, which will be available during shop opening hours.
The proposed move is part of major modernisation programme across the Post Office network.
During the public consultation, Post Office Ltd is asking for feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal. The consultation will close on 13 December 2013. Submissions can be made during the consultation by Freepost YOUR COMMENTS to Post Office Ltd, via email to email@example.com, via the Customer Helpline on 08457 22 33 44 or Textphone 08457 22 33 55.
Customers can also share their views online through the quick and easy questionnaire at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 130801.
The Post Office, now independent of Royal Mail, is the largest retail network in the UK, with over 11,500 branches.
