The 70-member Kirkcudbright Choral Society, with members from across the region, is gearing up for its spring concert next weekend.

The society, which has been on the go for 122 years, is set to bring down the house as ever when it opens with John Rutter’s Gloria, a three movement setting of the liturgical text Gloria in Excelsis Deo, first performed in 1974. This will be followed by the magnificent Requiem by W.A. Mozart, one of the great choral masterpieces and a thrill for both performer and audience.

The choir will be joined by the Stewartry Chamber Orchestra, soloists Ginny Wilson (Soprano), Fiona MacDonald (Mezzo Soprano), Jung Soo Jun (Tenor) and Bass, Anders Ostberg.

The soloists have extensive experience in opera and oratorio and have performed across the UK and Europe.

Tea and coffee will be served during the interval.

Tickets are available from Thomson Newsagents and Solway Books in Kirkcudbright, members of the Choral Society or via the website:

The concert will be held on Saturday 29 March at 7.30pm in the Cochran Hall, Kirkcudbright Academy.
