It was announced this week that QuinetiQ will end its role at West Freugh near Stranraer this week with seven redundancies.
Last year it was hoped that a deal could be reached to save them, but it has been unsuccessful.
Galloway MSP Alex Fergusson said: “This appears to be a very sad end to QinetiQ’s stewardship of West Freugh – a stewardship that has often promised much, but which has spectacularly failed to deliver.
“Obviously, my sympathy is with the seven employees who face redundancy at this most difficult of times, but the facility of West Freugh remains a lost opportunity.”
QinetiQ took over the running of RAF station at West Freugh in 2001 as a test range for bombs and Air-to-Ground missiles over Luce Bay.
