A Newton Stewart man who breached his bail conditions, resisted arrest and threatened police officers was jailed for 90 days this week at Stranraer Sheriff Court.
Christopher Smith, 37, of 25 St Couan’s Place, admitted breaching his bail twice on September 6 by being in the Central Bar instead of his home. Officers alerted to the breach traced him to St Couan’s Place where Smith struggled violently with the officers trying to arrest him. At Newton Stewart police station he compounded matters by shouting, swearing and uttering threats of violence. Craig also told officers he felt he was “being picked on”.
Agent Michael Kilkerr said that Smith suffered from COPD and the associated breathing difficulties made him over- react to the situation.
