A report into an Education Scotland review inspection at Gatehouse Primary and Nursery School was published this week.
An Education Scotland spokesman said: “There is evidence of improvement in key areas of the school’s work since the original inspection. The headteacher has continued to lead the school well to achieve the areas for improvement needed. Children are now more involved actively in their own learning. Staff understand the need to continue to improve the curriculum and the quality of children’s learning and achievements.
“There remains scope to continue to improve the overall quality of provision in the nursery in order to make strong and secure progress in literacy and numeracy. We are satisfied with the overall quality of provision.
“We are confident that most of the school’s self-evaluation processes are leading to improvements. As a result, our Area Lead Officer will work with Dumfries and Galloway Council to build capacity for improvement and will maintain contact to monitor progress.”
