Liberal Democrat MSP for South Scotland Jim Hume has called on NHS Dumfries and Galloway to ensure appropriate support for Galloway Community Hospital staff following another bruising report from health inspectors.
Mr Hume said: “Our rural communities value very much our local hospitals and the services they provide in looking after older people and patients with terminal illness.
“It’s all the more upsetting when we see yet another report that shows NHS Dumfries and Galloway is failing to get to grips with inspectors’ earlier recommendations for improvement.
“NHS officials must ensure that every support is made available to hospital staff so that our community hospitals can provide the level of care they strive for.
“Community hospitals are a vital healthcare asset for our rural towns and villages, and must be supported by NHS Dumfries and Galloway.”
