Hotelier looking forward to life down under

Local hotelier Steve Donnan recently announced that he and his family were selling up and emigrating to Perth, Western Australia.

Steve and his wife Sarah, have run the Creebridge House Hotel in Minnigaff since 2006, but when Steve’s health began to deteriorate they decided to take sons Rory and Campbell to a new life in the sun.

Steve was born and brought up in Port William and still has many family members in the area so moving so far away is quite a wrench, but a serious car accident ten years ago has left him with increasing mobility problems. After a holiday in Australia a few years ago, Steve found the warm climate down under eased his symptoms and the seed to move there was sown.

The hotel is on the market for £995,000.

Recently, Steve spoke about his plans to Galloway Gazette reporter Louise Kerr. Watch the video here.
