A new owner of the iconic Ellangowan Hotel in Creetown could soon be announced.
The business has been for sale for some time and a spokesman for the estate agents confirmed this week that a preferred bidder has been chosen.
Alistair Letham, from Colliers International, the firm that is handling the sale, said: “The hotel is under offer and the matter is now in the hands of solicitors.
“A preferred bidder has been accepted and his monetary offer has been accepted. However, nothing has yet been concluded and no money has changed hands. Concluding the deal could take two to three weeks.”
Hoswever, Mr Letham was unable to say who the preferred bidder was.
The Ellangowan Hotel acquired cult status after it featured in the movie The Wicker Man, starring Edward Woodward.
