The first significant snow of the winter arrived, as predicted, on Wednesday evening in Galloway.
By five o’ clock in Newton Stewart, heave flurries of snow blew in on a bitting north westerly wind and by morning there was a covering of around two inches in the town.
The weather forecast had residents in the region well warned having issued an amber alert on all news and social medial channel ahead of the snowstorm blowing in.
The snow was heaviest from Newton Stewart north and east with the South Machars escaping the brunt of the bad weather. Another cold front is expected over the weekend with temperatures plunging countrywide.
