Great prizes up for grabs at Rotary Am Am tournament

Saturday the 11th of June will see the return of the joint AmAm run by Rotary Club of Newton Stewart in conjunction with Newton Stewart Golf Club. The event will help raise funds for the Rotary Club of Newton Stewart’s appeal to provide all under 18’s in Dumfries and Galloway who suffer from type one diabetes with Insulin pumps.

Rotary spokesman Keith Best said: “The project to secure Type 1 Insulin Pump Therapy for young people in Dumfries and Galloway is the most ambitious and one of the most important, for the communities and families in Dumfries and Galloway.

“We are looking forward to making a difference and working in partnership with community groups and Rotary Clubs across the world to achieve our target figure of £150,000.”

Six main sponsors have signed up to support the event, they are Jewson Newton Stewart, David Inglis and Son Newton Stewart, Creebridge Hotel Newton Stewart, AB & A Matthews Solicitors Newton Stewart, Conifers Leisure Park Newton Stewart and Motorwise of Newton Stewart.

The event is also attracting many donations and hole sponsors with prizes such as hole in one prizes of £5000, a golf holiday in Portugal, a two day break in the UK, and a set of Taylormade golf clubs.

The winning team will collect a top prize of £600.

Entry cost will be £120.00 per team which will include coffee and breakfast roll prior to tee off and a main course meal on completion.

All teams entered will qualify for a free round of golf at Newton Stewart the day prior to the event.

Baird Matthews, Newton Stewart Golf Club Honorary President, and longest serving Rotarian at the Newton Stewart club commented: “As Honorary President of the Golf Club, I know that the club is pleased to make the Golf Course available for this Golf Am/Am competition, and is happy to join the Rotary Club in raising funds for this well deserved local and charitable cause. As a founder member of the Rotary Club, I am most grateful to the Golf Club for making the event possible, and for supporting this charitable appeal.”

Newton Stewart Initiative will be helping out on the day running a bottle stall just off the 18th green and there will be refreshments available between the 10th green and the 11th tee.
