The river Cree burst its banks again on Monday in Newton Stewart, flooding parts of the town.
The persistent rain saw the Cree in a torrent as it breached the retaining wall at the Rivereside road, swamping the car park.
Earlier police action had meant the car park was empty as officers closed the access roads.
However, firefighters had to respond to pump out one cottage opposite the town’s fire station as the raging waters flooded in.
And there were traffic problems as drivers sought places to park and to negotiate the town with a number of road closures.
