One of the caualties of the Newton Stewart flooding disater last week was the Post Office. Until the office is operational again customers are being requested to use any alternative post office until the branch re-opens.
A Post office Spokesperson said: “We would like to apologise to customer for any inconvenience caused due to the closure of Newton Stewart Post Office this is due to severe flooding which has no doubt affected the whole community. It remains a priority to us to ensure the safety of our colleagues and also to restore services to the area as soon as possible. We would like to thank customers for their patience at this time. Customers can use any alternative Post Office in the time being.”
Newton Stewart Postmistress Arlene Da Prato added: “We would like to thank the local community, customers, local emergency services and all those who have helped us during this difficult time. We are working hard to get the branch open as soon as possible, we would also like to thank the local Sainsburys for supplying food and drink to the locals when trying to get ourselves back to normal.”
