Congratulations to Watch Manager Roy McClymont, a serving member of Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), for winning first prize in the SFRS Family Support Trust 90th Anniversary prize draw.

Roy’s colleagues gathered at Newton Stewart Fire Station, last Thursday to see him being presented with his prize, by charity trustee, area manager Hamish McGhie and charity officer, Grace Quigley.

Roy said: “I was really delighted to receive the news that I had won seven days’ accommodation for my family, at the charity’s luxury respite apartment in Costa Mijas, Costa Del Sol, Spain. I had forgotten that I had bought tickets so it came as a great surprise.”

Hamish McGhie explained: “We are pleased for Roy and his family and are confident that they will thoroughly enjoy a lovely relaxing break at our charity’s apartment. It’s an excellent facility which is used all year round by service personnel and their families, to help with recuperation after illness or

bereavement. We are very proud of our unique partnership with SFRS, the only Fire Service in the whole of the UK which has its own aligned charity. We are dedicated to helping serving and retired fire personnel and their families at times of greatest need, including injury, illness and bereavement.

“On behalf of the trustees of Family Support Trust, I would like to sincerely thank all serving and retired service employees and their families who supported the draw, which raised around £1800 to help with the continued delivery of our charitable services.”
